About Us

“Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance.” — Benjamin Franklin

Living amongst the vines is the ultimate aspiration of anyone that truly loves the culture of wine. Imagine waking up to the breeze rustling through the beautiful fall foliage in your very own vineyard. CK Vines can help bring the Wine Country lifestyle to your own backyard by providing sustainable, income-producing, view enhancing landscaping.

CK Vines provides installation and maintenance of backyard vineyards for over 30 homeowners in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Northern Central Coast. From determining the best grape variety, irrigation system and vine trellising for each unique site to planting and maintaining the new vineyard, CK Vines manages the entire process, from soil to sipping. During the vines’ growing season, the CK Vines team cares for each vineyard, ensuring that the vines produce the best grapes possible. And when it’s time to harvest, the vineyard team determines the optimum time to pick the grapes. There’s no guess work for the homeowner.

When the young vineyard begins to produce quality fruit, the grapes are purchased from the homeowner for use in Clos LaChance wines. CK Vines is not just a landscaping company. Aspects such as pruning and trellising have special techniques that take years to master. Surprisingly, seemingly insignificant alterations in vine maintenance can affect the characteristics of the fruit. Because Clos LaChance Wines purchases the fruit produced by CK Vines’ vineyards, we are highly motivated to take the best possible care of our clients’ vines and fruit.

In June 2005, Clos LaChance Wines will release its first vineyard-designated wine from one of the CK Vines partnerships-the Krause Vineyard Pinot Noir. Bill Krause’s vineyard, located in Los Altos, was planted in 1998. The vineyard covers 1.75 acres with 1,500 Pinot Noir vines.

Currently, CK Vines manages vineyards on 20 properties with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah grapes in the Santa Cruz Mountians and Central Coast. See some of our current clients.
